Hello World!

So, this is my first post and I am going to start by talking about why I chose the Blog name.

Athena was the ancient greek goddess of wisdom and, although she was not known to be the prettiest of the goddesses (ahem.....that would have to be Aphrodite) nevertheless I like to think that she was probably the sassiest, and the strongest-minded. We already know that she was said to have a love of animals, as she had many pet owls, and she always looked out for her fellow goddesses. (I mean, I would certainly want her as my friend!) To be honest my point is that, further on in history though, women were always depicted as weak, and the men were always the heroes, I mean women FINALLY have rights, but it's taken a couple of thousand years, and sometimes some men seem not to even let us have a minute in the spotlight, even though they seem to have been basking in it themselves for the entirety of the human race.

I do want to stress though, that I want equal rights for everyone, not just women but men too, and those who don't identify as either. I feel like if we cannot even reach a certain level of feminism (I also want it to be known as equalitism, hopefully) in western nations, it will be almost impossible to reach it elsewhere.

As for the reason why I've called this blog Athena's Willow, Whenever I'm worried or stressed (as I'm sure occurs for some people), I always just imagine being under the shade of a willow tree, and I find it so peaceful, under my Willow Tree. Does anyone else do this?

I want this blog to be somewhere that I can just be myself and discuss different things that I'm facing (not that it’s anything huge), and I would definitely urge you to comment on my posts, but the only thing that I will say is that please keep the comments positive, and I'll keep the blog a positive place.

I'm going to try to post every weekend, so that I get into the habit of it, so make sure you check this blog for a new post every friday, saturday or sunday.

I don't want to stray too far on the non-positive side of things, but to all of you that are reading this whilst in lockdown (as I am), hopefully this will all end soon, but until then I wish you all the best.

Your favourite Goddess,

Athena.
